Sportklub Rapid was founded in 1897 as the 1st Vienna Workers' Football Club. The team is based in the Allianz Stadium in Vienna's Hütteldorf district and plays in the Austrian Bundesliga. The name Rapid was adopted in 1899, with the original blue and red colours being replaced by the current ones six years later.
The club has won 32 Austrian championships, making them record champions. Sportklub Rapid have also enjoyed significant international success, winning the Mitropapokal in 1930 and 1951 and reaching the final of the European Cup Winners' Cup twice in 1985 and 1996.
